With a textured mix of whimsy and sci fi, Glenn Barr’s new work ‘Detroit Rooms’ does not disappoint. Following on themes form his previous works; and in Barr’s own words , drawing his inspirations from television, he uses his self styled ‘kinetic’ painting technique, allowing the surfaces of his paintings to take on a life of their own in respect to the work.
Barr’s work is a mixture of androids, robotic monsters, nubile females and a trashy b-movie sci fi look. The scenes are combined and captured amazingly in pastel tones, giving the work a subdued and understated look, whilst making the paintings feel more grounded.
A great showcase from a great artist that never disappoints.
Yak Out.
